A Report on Kisan Diwas celebrations at WALAMTARI Date: 23-Dec-2019

Kisan Diwas or National Farmers' Day is observed across India on December 23. The day honors Chaudhary Charan Singh, the 5th Prime Minister of India whose was born on this day. It was in the year 2001, the Government of India decided to observe December 23 every year as Kisan Diwas.

During his tenure as the Prime Minister of India from July 1979 to January 1980, Chaudhary Charan Singh introduced a slew of policies to improve the lives and conditions of farmers in the country. He also played a leading role in the agricultural sector of the country by introducing bills for farmers' reforms. Farmers are considered to be the backbone of India’s economic development

Kisan Diwas is being celebrated every year to promote awareness among people about the importance of the farmers to the society and overall economic and social development of the country. A number of events are organized across the country on National Farmers' Day to encourage farmers and celebrate their contributions to the country.

 This year WALAMTARI also conducted Kisan Diwas program, on that program different kind of farmers from Telangana state, press/ media, NGO persons, WALAMTARI members, other agriculture departments, agriculture students are participated and get appreciation.

This meeting was started with lighting the lamp with our honorable Speaker Mr. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, he told lot things about farming importance and uses ages, with agriculture how the nation was going forward etc., farmers asking some questions related to their problems, solutions, basic facilities for the farmer and support from Govt. and other agricultural department persons are spoke about kisan diwas, farmers related schemes, subsidies etc., they all told that utilize those schemes and get profits through proper way, farming is a major assets to the country.

Mr. Speaker was launch a Book and Badges which related agriculture after that session, Speaker appreciate and shiled to the model farmers on that participants, media persons and agriculture students, model farmers and women farmers are using new techniques and they selected some kind of crops like dragon fruits cultivations, apple and other crops etc.,

Conclusion:

 In that meeting some farmers raise their problems facing at ground level, after yielding, Mr. Speaker launch the Book that related to Agriculture, after that he gave speech related to agriculture, how the farmer taking the nation to forward step, importance of agriculture and new technologies for farming,
